Why is my geyser not filling up?

If your geyser is not filling up with water, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some common causes and troubleshooting steps:

  1. Water Supply Issue: Check to ensure that there is an adequate supply of water to the geyser. Verify that the main water supply valve leading to the geyser is open and that there are no issues with the water supply to your property.
  1. Blocked Inlet Valve: Inspect the inlet valve (also known as the cold water inlet valve) to the geyser for any blockages or obstructions that may be preventing water from entering the tank. Clean or replace the inlet valve if necessary.
  1. Airlock: Sometimes, air can become trapped in the plumbing system, causing an airlock that prevents water from flowing into the geyser. To release the airlock, open the hot water tap nearest to the geyser and let it run for a few minutes to allow air to escape.
  1. Leak in the Plumbing: Check for any leaks in the plumbing system leading to or from the geyser. A leak in the pipes could result in a loss of water pressure, preventing the geyser from filling up properly.
  1. Faulty Float Valve: The float valve inside the geyser tank controls the water level and shuts off the water supply when the tank is full. If the float valve is stuck or malfunctioning, it may prevent the geyser from filling up. Check the float valve for any issues and replace it if necessary.
  1. Sediment Buildup: Sediment or mineral buildup in the geyser tank or inlet valve can obstruct the flow of water and prevent the geyser from filling up. Flush the geyser tank to remove sediment buildup and clean the inlet valve if necessary.
  1. Low Water Pressure: If the water pressure to your property is low, it may take longer for the geyser to fill up. Consider installing a booster pump or contacting your water supplier to address low water pressure issues.

If you’re unable to identify or resolve the issue causing your geyser not to fill up with water, it’s best to contact a qualified plumber or technician for further inspection and repair. They can diagnose the problem accurately and recommend the necessary repairs to restore your geyser’s functionality.
